Grant Funding for Electrical Charging Stations

Procedure: Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles on Road Networks

Program: “Transport Connectivity” 2021–2027

Eligible Activities and Costs:

Eligible activities:

Construction of publicly accessible charging hubs for light-duty electric vehicles:

  • Along the core Trans-European road network, providing a minimum output of 600 kW and including at least two charging points with an individual capacity of no less than 150 kW.
  • Along the comprehensive Trans-European road network, providing a minimum output of 300 kW and including at least one charging point with an individual capacity of no less than 150 kW.

Construction of publicly accessible charging hubs for heavy-duty electric vehicles:

  • Along the core Trans-European transport network, providing a minimum output of 2,800 kW and including at least two charging points with an individual output of no less than 350 kW.
  • Along the comprehensive Trans-European transport network, providing a minimum output of 1,400 kW and including at least one charging point with an individual output of no less than 350 kW.

Only charging points that enable the transfer of electrical energy to an electric vehicle with an output power exceeding 22 kW are eligible for funding.

All charging hubs must be located along the national road network that forms part of the core and/or comprehensive Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), outside populated areas or within a road distance of up to 3 kilometers from the nearest exit of a TEN-T road.

Project investments must be located outside the Southwestern Region.

Eligible Costs for the construction, installation, modernization, or expansion of electric charging infrastructure, including:

  • Costs for the charging infrastructure itself.
  • Costs for related technical equipment.
  • Costs for land and road adaptation associated with access infrastructure to charging stations.
  • Costs for on-site production of electricity from renewable sources and/or for energy storage units (batteries).
  • Costs for obtaining the necessary permits.

Priority have:

  • Projects for charging hub in Northern Bulgaria.
  • A charging hub planned on the core TEN-T network or within 3 km by road from the nearest exit of a core TEN-T road.
  • Projects for a charging hub with more than 4 charging points, each with an individual capacity of at least 150 kW for passenger cars or 350 kW for heavy-duty vehicles, located on the core TEN-T network.
  • Projects including the construction of a renewable energy source and/or energy storage units.
  • Estimated cost of the planned charging hub.
  • Projects including at least 3 additional convenience measures, such as: service facilities (toilets, changing rooms, showers);restaurants and/or vending machines for food and beverages; waiting areas, rest zones; video surveillance and/or security; roof covering over the charging infrastructure, etc.
