EU Grant Funding for the Implementation of Industry 4.0 Technologies in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
Eligible Activities and Costs:
1) Introduction and integration of one or more technologies from Industry 4.0:
- Industrial Internet of Things (IioT); Digital Twins; Digital Shadow; Cyber-Physical Systems – CPS; Vertical and horizontal integration of business and production process management systems; Edge Computing; Robotic Process Automation – RPA; Collaborative Robots (Cobots); 3D Printing;
- Big Data; Big Data Analysis; Cloud Computing; Augmented Reality – AR and Virtual Reality – VR; Machine Learning – ML; Artificial Intelligence –AI;
- Analysis and simulation of various scenarios; Predictive Analytics; AI for forecasting and automation; Predictive Digital Twins; Human-AI Collaboration;
- Autonomous Manufacturing Systems; AI for fully autonomous solutions; Self-Adapting Cyber-Physical Systems; Advanced Robotics; Autonomous Logistics Systems; Advanced Human-Robot Interaction Systems; Decentralized Autonomous Systems;
Eligible Costs for These Technologies:
- Costs for Acquisition and Implementation of ICT Systems and Applications -Intangible Fixed Assets – ready-made solutions/licenses/subscriptions/SaaS.
- Costs for Machinery, Facilities, and Equipment - Tangible Fixed Assets –necessary for the implementation of the respective technology and/or based on it and/or possessing the technology as a technical characteristic/functionality.
Eligable applicants: Small and medium-sized enterprises (up to 250 employees, including affiliated companies); registered before December 31, 2022; with net sales revenue for 2024 above the respective thresholds; with a specific maturity level of available digital technologies.
Deadline for submission of project proposals: 15.12.2025.
Grant amount: Up to BGN 850,000, which can represent up to 50% of eligible project costs.
2) Enhancing Cybersecurity and Data Confidentiality (up to BGN 40,000):
- Establishing an information protection system in a local network;
- Establishing an information backup system;
- Establishing a system for managing the storage and sharing of information;
- Implementing and certifying an information security management system according to the requirements of the international standard BSS (Bulgarian State Standard) ISO/IEC 27001, etc.
3) Implementing Standards in the Field of Industry 4.0 (up to BGN 20,000):
- BSS EN 62264 "Integration of Enterprise Management System";
- BSS EN 61512 "Batch Control and Verification of Production Process";
- BSS EN IEC 62890 "Lifecycle Management of Systems and Components".
Project Implementation Duration: Should not exceed 15 months
