The transit corridors remain

Bulgaria imposes a temporary ban on food imports from Ukraine, except for goods in transit. The decision comes into force on April 24 and will be in effect until June 30, 2023.

The ban applies to more than 20 commodities. Among them are:

  • soft and hard wheat; wheat flour; sunflower seeds; sunflower oil; corn; honey and bee products; raw milk; dry milk; milk concentrate; walnuts; hazelnuts; eggs; chicken meat; pork; sheep and goat meat; rye; barley; oat flakes; sorghum; buckwheat; starches, inulin, wheat gluten; soy; linseed; rape; wine; wine vinegar; ethyl alcohol.

The ban will not be applied to goods in transit through the territory of Bulgaria, in case the lots are in specialized means of transport, sealed at the border, without allowing their unloading and reloading on the territory of Bulgaria.

In the meantime, the European Commission has started negotiations with Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania. The Commission proposed removing the ban for import by these countries against additional financial support to the farmers impacted in these countries.
